Description

E772V2 Smart Battery Isolator Relay for Motorhomes and Campervans.

Description:
All equipped vehicles use an auxiliary battery to prevent the starter battery from being drained by the cabin's electrical load when the vehicle is stationary. The isolator relay allows the auxiliary battery to be connected to the starter battery when the vehicle is running, so the alternator can charge the auxiliary battery, but it isolates it when the vehicle is stopped. Traditionally, alternators delivered voltages >=13.4V continuously, and this voltage was detected by the traditional E772 (V1) relay to connect and disconnect the alternator.
With the implementation of the EURO6 low-emission regulations, car manufacturers have developed alternators that offer variable voltage depending on the engine's power consumption. These new alternators help reduce fuel consumption, but they slow down the charging of an auxiliary battery.
The new E772V2 smart relay has been designed to work with all alternators, including new ones.
Functions of the E772V2 relay:
Equivalent function to the traditional E772. Connection >=13.4V
* Motion detection. Uses a motion sensor to deduce that the vehicle is in motion.
A microcontroller processes the signal to discard isolated vibrations and only validate patterns corresponding to the vehicle in motion. There is a normal delay between the motion detection system and the relay's activation/deactivation.
Ideal diode function. It has a sensor that allows the microcontroller to read the current direction. This function prevents the starter motor from drawing power from the auxiliary battery and, more importantly, prevents the auxiliary battery from discharging into the main battery when the smart alternator isn't supplying voltage. This function is essential with new alternators; otherwise, the auxiliary battery would never fully charge.
* Main battery protection function. The relay disconnects the secondary battery if the main battery falls below 12V.
in any situation.
* Allows a peak current of 180A and a nominal current of 120A.
Assembly and usage tips:
* Use a cable cross-section greater than or equal to 10 mm² and the shortest possible lengths. A smaller cross-section and long cables would generate voltage drops that would confuse the microcontroller.
* Install the relay as close to the alternator as possible.
* Do not overtighten the terminal screws. Maximum tightening torque SN/m. Breakage will occur above 9 N/m.
If applicable, disable the Start/Stop function of your vehicle when you need to charge the second battery quickly.
To charge the second battery while stationary with the engine running, it might be necessary to excite the alternator's starter by turning on some load (the vehicle's lights, for example).
If you are loading the vehicle onto a ship or train, take the precaution of turning off all electrical loads.
auxiliary battery.
