The IRIDIUM electric motorhome, is it true?

The Iridium electric traction motorhome has been presented as a world novelty at the CMT show in Stuttgart this January. Iridium is a German company specialized in modifying, decorating, in short, 'make up' motorhomes. Now it has taken a major leap by electrifying a motorhome. The transformation, which is based on a Bela P69 motorhome on a Fiat Ducato chassis, consists of replacing the combustion engine with a synchronous electric one with a peak power of 190 HP and an impressive torque of 720 Nm from the start. As a reference, the 2.3-liter displacement and 150 HP engine that is present in many motorhomes provides a torque of 350 Nm. The original gearbox and differential have been preserved, although considering that the torque of this electric motor is practically constant, the gearshift lever should be used very little. To recover braking energy, the KERS, Kinetic Energy Recovery System, of the type used in Formula 1 cars, has been used. The 106 kWh LFP lithium-ferrophosphate battery provides a range, according to Iridium, of 300 km . The recharging time, at a fast recharging point, is around two and a half hours; in a household socket it can last more than a day. This motorhome measures 6.95 m long, 2.32 m wide and 2.95 m high, with capacity for five seats. The price, in Germany, is €169,000.
