PTFE tapes (Teflon tapes) are placed over the welding wire and prevent the hot polymer from sticking to the welding jaws during the welding process.

The non-stick effect of Teflon begins to degrade after approximately 1,500 welds.

To maintain the quality of the welds, it is necessary to replace both bands.
