When the gas detector detects the presence of a harmful gas in the environment, the pre-alarm phase is activated, which lasts about 40 seconds, with intermittent acoustic signal and flashing of the red "alarm" light. If after this period there is still gas in the environment, the device goes into the alarm phase with a fixed red light on and constant acoustic signal. On the other hand, if the gas disappears during the pre-alarm phase, the acoustic signal stops and the device will once again be ready to detect the presence of gas.
